The Lincolnton Lions Club will double the number of scholarships available this year to graduating seniors at each of the four county high schools, and one winner will be selected from each school for a $500 award.

The Lincolnton Lions 2013 Lions College Scholarship applications are available in the guidance counselors’ offices at East Lincoln, North Lincoln, Lincolnton and West Lincoln high schools. All sections of the applications and support documents must be completed and returned before the deadline. For information, check with each school’s guidance office.

Application requirements include:

• Graduating seniors at East Lincoln, Lincolnton, North Lincoln, and West Lincoln High School must be a legal resident of Lincoln County and the U.S.

• Submit copies of official high school transcripts and college entrance examination scores.

• Letters of references

• Proof of acceptance to an accredited college or university

Scholarships will be awarded based on the following criteria:

• Financial need

• Scholastic aptitude and achievement

• Volunteer service

• Extra curricular activities

• An original essay on volunteerism

The 2013 Lions Club College Scholarship winners will be recognized at an awards ceremony.
