LINCOLNTON – New faces will abound when North Lincoln High’s football team takes the field for its season opener on Aug. 17.
The Knights have new starters on offense and defense. They’ll also have a new look on their helmets.
North Lincoln changed its logo before the start of the 2012 season, signifying the fresh start the team hopes to have under first-year coach David Maness. The Knights have won just four games in the past three seasons.
“I think it looks good on our helmets,” Maness said. “It’s an upgrade. It looks tough.”
North Lincoln’s previous logo was a blue Knight on a silver helmet. The new logo is an interlocking “N” and “L” inside a diamond on a white helmet.
It’s not just the look that counts, Maness said. North Lincoln would look great on the field in any design, provided they win.
“That’s the first challenge,” Maness said.
