Billy Locklear

DENVER – Services for Billy Locklear were held July 31 at the Good Samaritan Funeral Home in Denver.

Locklear, 73, died July 29 at Gaston Memorial Hospital.

Born July 14, 1939, he was a son of the late Walter and Evalina Locklear.

He was a construction worker and enjoyed NASCAR.

Including his parents, his sister, Barbara, and brother, Grady, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his children, Charlotte Maynard (David), Holly Birch (Raymond), John P. Locklear (Becky) and Dawn Houser; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Mildred, Alene and Peggy; and brothers Ray, Artis and John.

George Alexander Turner

LINCOLNTON – Services for George Alexander Turner were held July 26 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church.

Turner, 86, of 5074 N.C. 150 E. in Lincolnton, died July 23.

A burial followed in Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Born Feb. 27, 1926, he was a son of the late Clarence and Alma Jordan Turner and Stella Whitaker Turner.

He served in the U.S. Army.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Hilda Rudisill, brother, Gene Turner, daughter, Sandy Turner, great-granddaughter, Lauren Whiteside, and stepson Stanley Ledford Rhyne.

Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Margaret Ledford Rhyne Turner; son, George A. Turner Jr., of Gastonia, daughters, Christine Turner Welch of Gastonia and Diana T. Hill of Kings Mountain; Margaret’s son, Wilford Rhyne of Lincolnton; brother, Rodney Turner of Lincolnton; sisters, Dorothy Scism of Waco, Clara Bivens of Lincolnton, and Colette Walker of Dallas; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and Margaret’s two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
