Stella M. Avery

Services for Stella Brite Martin Avery were held Aug. 2, 2012, at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.

Avery, 86, of Carillon Assisted Living in Lincolnton, died July 30.

The Rev. Jim Sanders officiated the service, and burial followed in the church cemetery.

Born July 15, 1926, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Lee and Dessie Lackey Martin.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Avery, son, Mike Avery, three brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by brothers, Dwight Martin of Lincolnton, Dennis Martin of Lake Okeechobee, Fla., and Harold Martin of Lincolnton; and sister, Evelyn Humphries of Lincolnton.

Robert W. Fulton

Robert Wells Fulton, 97, of the Wexford House in Denver, died Aug. 6, 2012.

Funeral services will be held Aug.12 in Meadville, Penn., with burial to follow in the Greendale Cemetery, also in Meadville.

Born Feb. 22, 1915, in East Liverpool, Ohio, he worked as a paint and glass salesman.

He is survived by sons, John Robert Fulton and wife Penny of Simpsonville, S.C., and Thomas Carl Fulton of Pueblo, Colo.; daughter, Nancy Peterson and husband Lyle, of Lincolnton; four grandchildren, Michele Jones and husband Jesse, Scott Peterson and wife Michele, Ross Fulton and wife Marni, and Rachel Schnorr and husband Michael; and great-granddaughter Megan Peterson.

Opal B. Sain

Services for Opal Beard Sain were held Aug. 9, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vale. Sain, 84, of 5910 Bill Sain Road in Vale, died Aug. 7.

Pastor John Locke officiated, and burial followed in the church cemetery.

Born Oct. 23, 1928, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Dewey and Johnsie Propst Beard.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Bill Thomas Sain; and a son, Tony Sain.

She is survived by a daughter, LeAnn Hull and husband Randy of Vale; grandsons, Matt Sain and wife Lynne of Denver, John Sain of Vale, and Henry Hull and wife Brittany of Vale; granddaughter Maria Navey and husband Ronald of Vale; great-grandchildren, Hunter Sain, Mackenzie Navey and Stella Navey; brother, Jim Beard of Hickory; and brother-in-law, Darrell Sain of Vale.
