James F. Crisson

LINCOLNTON – James Fred Crisson, 75, of 3086 Asbury Church Road in Lincolnton, died April 26, 2012.

Born Aug. 14, 1936, in Lincoln County, he was a son of the late George Alvin and Mary Price Saunders.  He worked as an automotive parts manager.

His son, Dustin Crisson, lives in Denver.

In addition to his son, he is survived by his wife, Joyce Whisnant Crisson; son, Denby Crisson of Lincolnton; and three grandchildren, Tripper Crisson, Hope Crisson LaVerde and husband, Thomas, and Karrigan Crisson.

Services were held Sunday, April 29, at Asbury United Methodist Church with the Revs. Anita Sain, Mike Devine and Ed Maddox officiating. A burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mildred R. King

DENVER – Mildred Ross King, 97, of Charlotte Health Care Center, formerly of 7481 Forney Hill Road in Denver, died April 27, 2012.

Born March 6, 1915, in Gaston County, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin and Pearl Hefner Ross.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest King; brothers, Grady Ross, Henry Ross, Benjamin Ross and Fred Ross; and sisters, Elizabeth Ross and Nell Rhodes.

Survivors include her son, Howard King, of Denver; two daughters, Diane King, of Charlotte and Wanda King, of Gastonia; three brothers, Robert Ross, of Vale, Floyd Ross, of Shelby, and John Ross of Lincolnton; and one sister, Frances Ballanger of Lincolnton.

Services were held Sunday, April 29, in the Warlick Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tim Killian officiating. Burial followed in the Denver United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Richard H. Cantrell

LINCOLNTON – Richard Harold Cantrell, 76, of 3562 Maiden Highway in Lincolnton, died Sunday, April 29, 2012.

Born Oct. 1, 1935, in Mecklenburg County, he was a son of the late Edgar and Nell Ballard Cantrell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Hugh. He served his country in the U.S. Army and later worked as a machinist for Universal Machine.

His brother, Jimmy Cantrell and wife, Sharon, live in Stanley.

Other survivors include his wife, Betty Cantrell; a son, Richard Scott Cantrell and wife, Angela, of Lincolnton; daughter, Kim Cantrell, of Lincolnton; brothers, David Cantrell and wife, Sherry, of Lincolnton, and Bob Cantrell and his late wife, Jewel, of California; two sisters, Sarah Cloninger and husband, Keith, of Dallas, and Diane Lunsford, of Shelby; three grandchildren, Dylan, Taner and Tate; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Services were held Wednesday, May 2, at Roseland Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Teems officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Warlick Funeral Home, Lincolnton, was in charge.
