LINCOLNTON – Lincoln County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating a pair of separate stabbings that occurred Saturday, May 19.
Baker District deputies responded to a call at 4454 Hunter Rhyne Road at approximately 7:25 p.m. Saturday, following reports of a disturbance and stabbing.
Upon arrival, deputies saw Jefferson Shane Bryant, 44, stumbling down the road, covered in blood. Bryant had been stabbed several times in the side and back and was airlifted to Carolina’s Medical Center-Main, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Police charged Christopher Joseph Kapusta, 20, of 4454 Hunter Rhyne Road, with felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury. He was placed in the Harven A. Crouse Detention Center under a $20,000 secured bond.
Detective Matt Lykins said Bryant is Kapusta’s mother’s boyfriend and that the two got into an altercation at the home.
Kapusta pulled a knife, but left and went to a neighbor’s house. Shortly after, Bryant went to the neighbor’s home to confront Kapusta, where police say the stabbing occurred.
In a separate incident, three were injured during a fight at a large party on Haynes Road around 2 a.m.
Deputies responded to the home after several people who were injured in the fight were taken to CMC-Lincoln. Darry Trevelle Scott, 21, was stabbed and airlifted to CMC-Main.
Other injuries at the party included one person being punched in the nose and another being hit in the head with a bottle.
Detectives said a number of people drinking at the party were underage and that the investigation is ongoing.
