LINCOLNTON – A Lincoln County man charged with murdering his neighbor before setting the man’s house on fire has been sentenced to about 10 years in prison.

John Paul Gaddy, 25, of 1145 Oakbrook Lane, Denver, accepted a plea agreement on charges of felony manslaughter and first-degree arson Nov. 8. Gaddy allegedly killed his Oakbrook Lane neighbor, Jimmy William Cole, 49, on July 21, 2010.

Firefighters arriving to the scene found blood on the home’s front porch and Cole body near the doorway.

He will serve a minimum of nine years and two months to a maximum of 11 years and nine months in the Piedmont Correction Institute.
